You have probably already read the my story called "The Escape". This one is about that same hamster family.
I need to fill you in on Mom and Dad hamster. Daddy hamster was a calm laid back kind of guy, that is when Mommy hamster wasn't around. If she was any where near him he was literally shaking and a nervous mess. Let's just say that she wasn't very friendly to him, not in the least bit. The cage they were in was actually two cages hooked together by tubes or tunnels. The hamsters could go from cage to cage by going through the tunnels. Now if Mommy hamster decided to change cages nobody was safe not even the babies. She would hit that tunnel full blast and if anyone was in the way they would soon be flying out - she'd hit them full force! If any of the babies got in her way after she was in the cage she would pick them up in her mouth and toss them to another part of the cage. I think maybe you can see why Daddy hamster was nervous around her. She was not known for her loving disposition. She just didn't seem to care about anyone, but herself. I felt sorry for him. It was better later when they got separated. And, Daddy hamster could relax.
Sometimes in this world we may feel like it is everyone for themselves- if we don't watch out for me no one else will. Or maybe some of you have not had a wonderful family life. Yes, some have, but for those of you who haven't, it doesn't have to end there. We can be glad that we have a Heavenly parent, a Heavenly Father who cares about us and would never throw us out of the way like Mommy hamster did her babies. Quite the opposite, He cares and loves us with an " everlasting love" ( Jeremiah 31:3). He is very patient and for that I am very thankful. I know in my own experience He has been very, very patient. And, we don't have to feel like we are on our own - He is there for us.
He also tells us to come to Him and not only when things are going great, but also when things are not going so great. He tells us to come to Him and He will give us rest. (Matthew 11:28-30) Don't we all need that? "My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:2. He is our shade or shelter. (Psalm 121:5) When we have a storm or problem in our life He is our help.
We are told He loved us so much we are His children. And, we are made in His image. Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them."
As you go through the day today remember you have a Heavenly Father that loves you!
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
